May Social Media Feature: Maya Paveza
Welcome to the second installment of our monthly social media feature. For those of you just now joining us, let me take a moment to explain. Every month I feature a real estate agent who utilizes social media so well that he or she is an inspiration to the rest of us.
Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn are becoming crucial tools to market your real estate business and manage your contacts. More and more agents are joining social networks, but how many are actually doing it well?
I can say, without a doubt, that Maya Paveza is a Twitter warrior.

She is a self-professed Real Estate Social Media know it all, and she has earned that title, 100%! A quick glance at her Twitter page shows that she tweets, retweets, and replies to tweets constantly. Even though she has more than 25,000 followers, she takes the time to respond to almost every tweet she’s tagged in.
This is true social networking. You create content that people want to read, and respond to their praise and criticism. Another positive aspect of Maya’s Twitter feed, is her ability to “chat” casually and comfortably with her followers. She’s just as confident talking about the weather as she is discussing significant information about the real estate industry.
By nature, many real estate agents are social people. They have to be outgoing and, to some degree, extroverted. Unfortunately this doesn’t always translate well to the web. Extroverted people sometimes have trouble putting their enthusiasm into written words, and they continue to rely solely on their in-person connections.
We are living in the age of Web 2.0, where your ability to network online is becoming as valuable as–maybe even more valuable than–how well you connect with people in person. Maya’s Twitter page proves that this can be done, and done well.
So what’s Maya’s secret? Well, she’s an expert in social media. She blogs about it, tweets about it, and I imagine she lives and breathes it. But not everyone has to be an expert to use Twitter and Facebook to our advantage. Read up on it. Subscribe to Maya’s blog! Follow other agents on Twitter and Facebook and begin to interact. Building a social network is a lot like building a non-virtual network. Be yourself and value others’ opinions and thoughts.
