April Social Media Feature: Jim Reppond
Every month I’m going to feature an agent who has a strong and inspiring presence online. Social media is becoming one of the most important tools for reaching out to clients, providing good customer service, and sharing your thoughts on current events and relevant issues.
One Seattle-area agent who truly inspires me with his use social media is Jim Reppond. Jim, from eXp Realty, is an expert on real estate brokerage technology. This expertise shines through with how easily he’s been able to incorporate social media into his business.
In addition to the professional sites Linkedin, Trulia and Zillow, Jim is active on Twitter and Facebook. He has more than 1000 followers on Twitter, and posts regularly about his industry-specific activities. Here’s an example from his Twitter feed, which he updates exceptionally well!

What impresses me here is the variety in tweets. Jim posts links to articles, his Foursquare locations, thoughts about events, and his current activities. I’ve seen some Twitter users who only post articles or whose sole activity on Twitter is re-tweeting and replying to others’ posts.
While Jim’s Facebook page is quite a bit different from his Twitter feed, he’s developed an incredibly professional-looking profile, which includes a house search tool.

On his Facebook wall he posts annotated links to information about Seattle, new listings, and news stories.

When Jim posts a link, he does it right. Some professionals on Facebook and Twitter post a link, with no annotation. Jim, on the other hand, discusses the value of the link. This is not only good style, it’s also a good business technique. Sharing your knowledge and opinion about a subject allows your clients and cohorts to trust you.
Thanks, Jim, for your inspiring presence online!
